I came in after my father passed away — I had no idea which accounts, policies or utilities were in his name, let alone how to handle any of it. The advisor at Kapok Compass was patient and structured the whole thing into a list that actually made sense. It still took time to work through, but at least I knew what I was dealing with.

The portal setup package was genuinely useful. My wife and I are both in our sixties and we had been avoiding setting up MyHijrah and TNB account online for years. The sessions were calm, the advisor repeated things without making us feel slow, and the printed guide they gave us has been on our fridge ever since. One small thing — I wish the follow-up appointment could have been a bit longer.

I was newly married and overwhelmed by the number of things I was told I needed to update — IC address, EPF nominee, bank account details, employer records. I tried to research it myself and just ended up with seventeen browser tabs open. The life-event session sorted everything into order in one hour. The checklist is still on my phone.

I enrolled in the business admin orientation after running my café for about eight months with essentially no system. Receipts in a shoebox, invoices in my email somewhere. By week three we had a folder structure that actually made sense and a simple calendar for quarterly tasks. The playbook they gave me at the end is something I'd recommend to anyone starting out.

My mother relocated from Johor and we wanted to get her set up properly — health portal, utility accounts, the pensioner registration. She does not use computers very often. The advisor went through each one on a screen she could see clearly, explained what each account was for, and the whole thing felt comfortable rather than stressful. She asked me to write this review on her behalf.

I started a small courier and logistics outfit early this year and had no idea what the administrative basics should even look like. The eight-week programme gave me a structure. Not everything applied to my situation but the advisor was clear about what to skip and what to prioritise. The one-to-one sessions in weeks five and seven were particularly useful.

How Sessions Made a Difference

Case Study 01 · Life-Event Session

The Challenge

A client moved from Sabah to Kuala Lumpur for a new job and needed to update her address across IC, EPF, SOCSO, her employer's payroll system, utilities, bank accounts and postal services. She had tried working through it over three weekends and still did not know if she had missed anything.

The Session

During the 60-minute life-event session, the advisor mapped all affected areas using a standard relocation framework, removed items not applicable to her situation (e.g., property ownership records), and sequenced the remaining steps in the order that would cause the least backtracking. Areas requiring a physical visit were flagged separately from those that could be done online.

The Outcome

The client completed 14 of 16 checklist items within three weeks. The remaining two required a counter visit during business hours that she arranged around her schedule. She used the follow-up message to clarify one portal upload step. No repeat session was needed.

Duration: 60-min session + 1 follow-up

Case Study 02 · Portal Setup Package

The Challenge

A retired couple in their early seventies had been receiving assistance from their adult children for all online transactions — utility payments, health portal access, pensioner benefit tracking. The children were moving interstate and the couple wanted to handle these independently but found the portals confusing and the login processes inconsistent.

The Sessions

Across three sessions, the advisor created accounts on four key portals with them in real time, walked through each dashboard, and explained document-upload steps with live examples. A private record of each account's purpose and recovery method was compiled. The advisor adjusted terminology throughout and never used English abbreviations without explaining them first.

The Outcome

Both partners were navigating their accounts independently within two weeks of the final session. The printed guide has been used as a reference several times. The 30-minute follow-up addressed one password recovery question. The couple has since referred two neighbours.

Duration: 3 sessions + 30-min follow-up

Case Study 03 · Business Admin Orientation

The Challenge

A first-time founder running a home-based bakery business for ten months had no filing system, no invoice template and no organised record of expenses. She was spending approximately four hours per month searching for past invoices when clients requested them.

The Programme

Over eight weeks, the programme covered a digital folder structure for business records, a reusable invoice template in a format she could update herself, an expense-tracking sheet without formulas she found intimidating, and a simple calendar for recurring administrative tasks. The two one-to-one sessions were used to review her actual documents and adapt the templates to her specifics.

The Outcome

By the final week, retrieving a past invoice took under two minutes. The monthly time spent on admin dropped noticeably — she estimated from four hours of searching to around 45 minutes of organised review. The Admin Playbook has been adapted with her own notes.

Duration: 8-week programme
