1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:
- ◆"Kapok Compass", "we", "us", "our" — refers to the citizen assistance centre operating under the name Kapok Compass at Level 25, Menara Takaful Malaysia, No. 4, Jalan Sultan Sulaiman, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
- ◆"Client", "you", "your" — refers to the individual or entity purchasing or using our services.
- ◆"Services" — refers to the Life-Event Checklist Session, Public Portal Accounts Setup Package, Small Business Admin Orientation, and any related follow-up communications offered by Kapok Compass.
- ◆"Agreement" — refers to these Terms and Conditions, which govern your use of our website and services.
- ◆"Session" — refers to a scheduled appointment or programme module delivered by a Kapok Compass advisor.
- ◆"Ringgit" or "RM" — refers to Malaysian Ringgit, the currency in which all prices are quoted.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By booking a service, submitting an enquiry via our website, or attending a session, you confirm that:
- ◆You are at least 18 years of age, or you have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian
- ◆You have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions
- ◆You have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement under Malaysian law
3. Service Description and Scope
Kapok Compass provides citizen assistance services of an informational and organisational nature. Our services are limited to the following:
- ◆Helping clients understand and organise the administrative steps associated with specific life events
- ◆Assisting clients in setting up and navigating publicly available government and utility portal accounts
- ◆Providing operational orientation for first-time founders and micro-business owners on administrative matters
Kapok Compass does not provide: legal advice, financial advice, tax advice, accounting services, representation to any government agency, or any service that requires a professional licence under Malaysian law. If a question falls outside our scope, we will tell you and direct you to the appropriate professional bodies.
Services are available to clients physically located in Malaysia. Sessions are conducted at our office in Kuala Lumpur unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Client Responsibilities
As a client of Kapok Compass, you agree to:
- ◆Attend booked sessions at the agreed time and location, or provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule
- ◆Provide accurate information during sessions; we cannot take responsibility for outcomes based on incorrect information you supply
- ◆Use our website and services for lawful purposes only
- ◆Refrain from requesting advice that falls outside the scope defined in these Terms
- ◆Not reproduce, distribute or commercialise our printed guides, checklists or other session materials without our written consent
5. Intellectual Property
All content on our website — text, design, structure, images — and all materials produced during sessions (checklists, guides, templates, the Admin Playbook) remain the intellectual property of Kapok Compass unless explicitly transferred in writing.
You are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use session materials for your own private administrative purposes. You may not sell, sublicence, or distribute these materials to third parties.
6. Payment Terms
All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes.
- ◆Life-Event Session (RM 450): Full payment on the day of the session, before the session begins
- ◆Portal Setup Package (RM 1,850): 50% deposit at booking; balance due before the second session
- ◆Business Admin Orientation (RM 4,450): 50% deposit at enrolment; balance due before the third session
Accepted payment methods: online bank transfer (FPX) or cash at the office.
Cancellation and Refunds
- ◆Cancellations made at least 48 hours before a scheduled session are eligible for a full refund of any pre-paid amounts for that session
- ◆Cancellations made less than 48 hours before a session forfeit the session fee
- ◆For package and programme bookings, a partial refund (minus completed sessions) is available if you withdraw before the halfway point; no refund is available thereafter
- ◆Refunds are processed within 14 business days via the original payment method
7. Disclaimers
Our services are provided on an informational basis only. Kapok Compass makes no representation that information provided during sessions is legally, financially or professionally complete. Information is based on publicly available sources, which may change after a session is conducted.
We do not warrant that completing any checklist or following any session guidance will produce a specific administrative outcome. Government processes, portal interfaces and agency requirements change, and we cannot be held responsible for changes that occur after your session.
Our website is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Kapok Compass's total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms or our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service in question.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental or special damages arising from your use of our services or website, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of income or administrative penalties arising from actions taken based on our session information.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate a booking or programme engagement by providing written notice. Kapok Compass reserves the right to terminate a session or engagement immediately if a client behaves in a manner that is abusive, unlawful or materially inconsistent with these Terms.
On termination, Sections 5, 7, 8 and 10 of these Terms continue to apply.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services shall first be addressed informally by contacting us at [email protected]. We will attempt to resolve disputes within 30 days.
If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Consumer Protection Act 1999 (Malaysia) applies where applicable.
11. General Provisions
- ◆Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with any booking confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between you and Kapok Compass in relation to our services.
- ◆Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- ◆No Waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision at any time does not waive our right to enforce it in future.
- ◆Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without notice.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. For existing bookings, changes take effect 30 days after notification or at the time of your next session, whichever is later. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance.
